Greetings and Welcome! As an artist, my family could honestly say my interests were evident early on from the walls of my childhood home. I used those walls as a canvas! My Mom was so patient and supportive and saved most of my work. (Thanks, Mom!) I grew up as an Army Brat and we lived all over the U.S. and parts of the world. I always looked forward to the next new place. One could say I was always the 'new kid'. But, the beginnings of my 'global thinking' probably began in childhood. My Dad was my guide to the natural world, fly fishing, auto mechanics, music, and baseball. Both of my parents were bibliophiles. I was SO busy with many interests and it was years later that I heard the term 'lifelong' learner. For me as an educator my mantra and goal for all of my students is to begin with the end in mind. I hold a BA in Sociology/Anthropology w/minor in History; and a MA in English and Reading Instruction and Curriculum. I have endorsements in Social Studies, English, Reading Specialist (literacy coach). I have been a Curator of Education in two major U.S. zoos where I developed and instructed interpretive curriculum for 100+ adult docents and coordinated 100+ Junior Zookeepers who volunteered throughout the zoo under Master Keepers' supervision. I served on two Master Planning committees to work with internationally acclaimed architects to design exhibits and develop interpretive materials. I also wrote grants for funding educational programs. I have dedicated my life to this profession with no regrets. It's the second most important job in the world right behind being a good parent.
