STEM+Arts Institute Classes

STEM + Art institute registration is open for Fall High School-Semester 1.  All classes are in-person.  To sign up for a class, you must register and pay the class fee with Cruz Duran in the STEM office. Spaces are limited! Materials fees will be $20 per semester for HS, fees are due upon registration.
STEM+Art Institute classes begin the week of August 28th. The last day to drop classes is September 6th and must be done IN WRITING (email) to Mrs. Lucero Martinez at jlucero-martinez@taosacademy.org.  Please note an instructor may drop a student from their class in the first 3 weeks if they are at risk of failure due to attendance and missing assignments. Prior notice will be given.

REMINDER: Students may not take the same course consecutively. Students wanting to repeat a course will be placed on the waitlist until after the first day of classes. If there is room in the class after the first day then students on the waitlist will be added based on the order they signed up.

The STEM+ Arts Institute handbook and all Taos Academy policies are followed in all STEM+Arts Institute classes.  If you have any questions, please email

Taos Academy Internship Program

Taos Academy Internship Program

Introduction

Taos Academy’s Internship Program gives elective credit to high school students who are volunteering in the community, participating in a sports program, or gaining job experience. The goal of TA’s Internship Program is for students to gain marketable skills and give back to the community while exploring interests to further their post-secondary goals. By providing real-world applications to the learning process, internship opportunities expand student understanding of the possibilities for a career in their chosen field.

The length of time for internships may vary. An internship can be for a day or two, such as a job shadow or volunteer opportunity.  An internship may also be scheduled on a regular basis once or twice a week such as a paying job or mentorship. Several similar internships may be added together to gain enough hours for elective credit.  A full credit is 200 hours and a half credit is 100 hours.  To get started, email Jason Weisfeld at [email protected] to get the necessary forms and information.

Expectations

Students are expected to follow Taos Academy’s policies in the TA Student Handbook.  They must arrive on time, be polite, dress appropriately, and use appropriate language during internship hours. Use of electronic devices - including cell phones -  is prohibited, except as allowed by the internship sponsor.
